Membership Information
All seniors are welcome to join us at Barclay Manor for our Open House events, Strawberry Festival and Summer Concerts (which are by donation) or to drop into Barclay Manor to sit by the fireplace and have a cup of tea or coffee, or browse our bulletin board and information racks.
All seniors are welcome to drop into Kay’s Place, our Information and Referral office, located in Denman Place Mall, to learn about a large number of community services and access a wide range of information and benefits of interest to seniors.
Membership entitlements include:
An invitation to participate in monthly WESN general meetings held at the West End Community Centre auditorium, regularly held on the second Monday of each month. Members are encouraged to bring issues forward and help shape the direction of the organization, as well as have an opportunity to keep informed and up-to-date on Network business and issues. The meeting also features guest speakers from the community. Afterwards, refreshments are served. There are also a number of opportunities for West End seniors to participate in programs and services who have not paid memberships. These include:
Membership is not linked to access to a variety of volunteer outreach services provided through the Life Unlimited Program (604-669-5051) or the Seniors’ Peer Counseling Programs (604-669-7339).
West End Seniors’ Network newsletter, published eleven times a year, is distributed for free throughout the community. All seniors can pick up a free copy at a variety of places including the West End Seniors’ Network offices at Barclay Manor, Sunset Towers and Kay's Place in Denman Place Mall, 411 Seniors’ Centre, Three Bridges Community Health Centre, St. Paul’s Hospital’s Elder Care Program, West End Mental Health Team, the Royal Bank, the Bank of Montreal, Capers, the Roundhouse Community Centre, etc.
Non-member seniors may still be eligible to benefit from a variety of outreach services. Conversely, however, membership in itself does not guarantee access to these programs, which are dependent on volunteer availability and other program-specific criteria.
Individuals of all ages are also encouraged to purchase a $12/year supporting membership, in appreciation of the assistance we provide to your family and neighbours year-round. Please join us by becoming a member today!
