Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the West End Seniors’ Network. There are many ways in which you can volunteer. Do you have something specific in mind? To help determine what a good volunteer job would be for you, please answer the following questions:

  • Why do you want to volunteer with us?
  • What do you enjoy doing?
  • What skills do you have that you would like to share?
  • What skills would you like to learn?
  • What do you hope to gain from the experience?
  • How much time do you have to give?

If you need some suggestions, here are some of the volunteer jobs currently available WESN:

Thrift Store: Our busy Thrift Store in Denman Place Mall is always looking for hard working, dependable people to work a weekly 4 hour shift. It’s a great way to practice English skills, get retail experience and meet new people.

Friendly Visitor / Walking Companion: A weekly visit with a homebound senior in the West End helps to brighten their day and add some valuable companionship to their lives. 1-2 hours a week.

Weekly Shopper: be a part of our Shopping Team. We shop for seniors who are unable to shop for themselves. We have teams at different West End supermarkets on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.

If you would like to volunteer with us, the next step is to fill out an application form. These can be picked up at any of our locations, or downloaded here. If you have any other questions, feel free to give our Coordinator of Volunteers a call on 604 669 5051.
